A prepared bath still requires an adult’s attention throughout. Review supervision and the water before thinking about the rest of the routine.

Take the baby with you if you must leave

If something is missing, do not leave the baby in the bath while fetching it. Take the baby safely with you or have a responsible adult bring the item.

THE POINT TO REMEMBER

Do not leave a baby unattended.

Check mixed water before placing baby in it

Mix the water well and check the temperature before the baby enters. Looking at the bath does not reveal a hot patch.

THE POINT TO REMEMBER

Mixing and checking helps avoid hot spots.

Prepare supplies and supervise continuously

Have supplies ready and stay with the baby throughout bathing. A bath seat or an older child does not replace continuous adult supervision.

THE POINT TO REMEMBER

Preparation does not replace continuous supervision.
