Itchy skin can affect ordinary family routines. Use these points to prepare questions about an existing care plan, rather than choosing treatment yourself.

Keep the moisturising routine

Continue appropriate emollient care even when eczema improves, following the care plan agreed with your healthcare professional.

THE POINT TO REMEMBER

Improvement does not automatically mean moisturising is no longer needed.

Ask before excluding foods

Do not remove major foods from a child’s diet, or a breastfeeding parent’s diet, to treat eczema without medical advice.

THE POINT TO REMEMBER

Unplanned dietary exclusions are not a substitute for eczema assessment.

Recognise possible infection

Painful, warm, swollen or leaking skin, sudden worsening, or feeling unwell needs urgent clinical advice.

THE POINT TO REMEMBER

These changes may indicate infection or another serious complication.

Read it. Try it. Come back to why.

Original reflection: list the parts of your child’s current care plan you understand and one instruction you would like a pharmacist or clinician to explain.
